Each month I pick one business that has provided extraordinary customer service and make a donation to a charity of their choice.

You have seen the lists of the most hated companies in America. Comcast is a persistent top place holder on such lists. Disrespecting customers, bad employee relations, poor system maintenance are the most frequent complaints. But Comcast has good people working for them, people that deserve better.

There have been three times in the past year when family members had to bring Comcast service techs out. Once to set up service in a new home, and twice to replace the modem in the same home. In one case, the tech had to return to the shop to pick up a part, which he did and returned to install it after the end of his shift on a Saturday night. Most recently, another tech got into a complicated electrical problem in my Mom’s older house. He called in a co-worker and they stayed much longer than anticipated on a Sunday night to ensure the problem was fixed. In all cases, the service techs were positive, competent, cordial and went beyond the norm to get it right.

This Lagniappe contribution is in honor of all the good people working in companies that don’t deserve them. The contribution goes to the local education foundation.
