I was going through my bookmarks last week and found this interesting article, that I had completely forgotten about. It’s a list of ten things that can get you fired, from the WSJ.
Not one of the ten listed has to do with delivering results. Each is about behavior, how people act while doing their job, interacting with coworkers and managers. The list breaks down to categories of interpersonal skills, respect for others, honesty and the sort of person someone is.
Not delivering desired results gets people fired. Bad behavior also gets people fired.
It takes more than credentials to be a great member of the team and a solid performer. The tangible and intangible cost of replacing people is high.
We tend to know someone needs to go too long before we actually make them go. I’m the Outsider and that’s what I think.
